Coloured Reverse Design
The central design, which appears within the outline of Antarctica, depicts a Humpback Whale and an icy landscape. As well as the inscription HUMPBACK WHALE : 2008, the reverse includes the words 'Australian Antarctic Territory' and The Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Presentation Packaging
The coin is housed in a blue-coloured presentation case, which comes within a stylish outer shipper, accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
No more than 7,500 individual 1oz Humpback Whale silver coins will be released by The Perth Mint.
