World's Biggest Gold Coin Registered in Guinness Book of Records

The RCM created a 100-kg (220lb) bullion coin, being made of 99.999 percent pure gold, which was registered in the Guinness Book of Records. Coin's face value is $1 million.

The Wrong Inscription of U.S. Coins

e pluribus unumOne of the greatest American symbols - the American dollar, have been presented to the world with a new look. 300 million new George Washington dollar coins were recently struck. About 50,000 proved to be without the edge inscription "In God We Trust". People around the world are arguing whether it was made mistakenly or intentionally. New coins are even considered a disgrace to the country.

 

The coins were released on February 15, 2007. Most of the dollars were made in Philadelphia and the rest in Denver. So far the error reports come only from Philadelphia. The new coins are colored in gold and are slightly larger and thicker than a quarter.

$10 Eagle Coin Purchased for $5 Million

1804 ten dollar us gold coinA private collector bought a rare $10 gold coin, minted as a diplomatic gift for United States President Andrew Jackson when he was on his trade missions to Asia. The collector was brave enough to pay $5 million for the rare coin.

 

Although being dated 1804, the Eagle coin was, in fact, struck later in 1834 at the Philadelphia Mint. It represents one of four specials coins that were able to survive till nowadays.

 

Both buyer and seller are unknown; they have chosen to remain anonymous. However, David Albanese, who is the president of Albanese Rare Coins and who was the one to hold the sale, mentioned that both collectors are from northeaster part of the United States. He added that the seller and buyer started collecting coins since they were young boys.

Dime Sold for Almost $1.6 million

one dime us coinStack's 72nd anniversary auction, which was held in the period between October 16 and 17 in the New York City, was proud to offer an 1894-S Barber dime, which was purchased for $1,552,500.

 

The sold dime is in fact very rare, one of the rarest coins in the United States, being graded PCGS Proof-64. The data from the US Mint shows that only 24 dimes of this kind were struck. According to Stack's catalogers, today only 10 are known.
